10 hidden bars in New York with secret entrances

If you think that you have already visited the most unusual places in New York, then this is most likely not the case. Edition SecretNYC shared a selection of 10 secret bars that are hard to find without a hint.

1. Angel's Share

8 Stuyvesant Street (East Village)

Angel's Share has a cozy atmosphere, hidden behind an inconspicuous wooden door inside the East Village Village Yokocho Japanese restaurant. It is especially pleasant to sit here in winter: you enjoy the warmth and watch the snow falling outside the window.

Every drink in this place is unique. Try April in Paris (includes sauterne, St. Germain, champagne vinegar, tomato water and lemon) or Bitches Brew (homemade dark chocolate based on Irish whiskey, liquor, hot milk, vanilla cream and star anise).

To get inside, go up the stairs to the restaurant and look for the wooden door to your left. If there are no free spaces inside, you may be sent to another secret place recently opened above the sushi restaurant.

2. Attaboy

134 Eldridge Street (LES)

Formerly known as Milk & Honey, the bar at 134 Eldridge Street was reopened in 2012 under the new name Attaboy. There is no menu to choose from, so you have to tell the bartender to make the perfect drink for you.

To get inside, you will need to ring the doorbell next to a regular gray metal door that simply says AB.

3. Blind barber

339 E 10th Street (Alphabet City)

Go to this place to have fun and dance to pain in your legs.

To get here, you have to go through a hairdresser in Alfabet City. Further behind a sliding wooden door you will find a small bar with good drinks and great music.

4. Blue quarter

92 2nd Avenue (East Village)

Blue Quarter probably has the most magnificent entry of all on this list. Hidden behind a stunning blue door with an arched lock in the East Village Local92 restaurant, this bar is a Mediterranean-style room with tea-based cocktails.

5. Bootlegger jack's

36-18 Ditmars Boulevard (Astoria)

The bathroom in a meat house is not a place to find entertainment, but this is where you will find this underground bar. Bootlegger Jack's is located in the basement by the bathroom of Uncle Jack's Meat House, behind a massive steel vaulted door.

To get inside, you need a password to enter. When you arrive, ask the doorman or manager for a secret password so you can log in.

6. Edie's

380 3rd Avenue (Kips Bay)

Edie's is an Andy Warhol-inspired bar at the back of The Factory 380. The bar is named after I Seduced Andy Warhol (Factory Girl), a 2006 American biographical drama. The place is a funky space reminiscent of old New York.

7. Featherweight

135 Graham Avenue at Johnson Avenue (Bushwick)

Right on Graham Avenue behind the seemingly most ordinary door you will find the Brooklyn treasure - Featherweight. To get into this secret bar, you will have to walk along a long corridor. But it's worth it to have fun, says the author.

If you do not feel ready for adventure, there is also an easier way leading through the back of Sweet Science.

8. Fig 19

131 Chrystie Street (LES)

Fig. 19 can be found at the back of the art gallery on the Lower East Side. This small space is the exact opposite of the snow-white gallery you walk through before entering the bar.

9. Bespoke

121 E 27th Street (NoMad)

This is a new sports bar located near the Devoción Cascara + Coffee Bar in NoMad. Hidden behind a brass door, this chic bar is great for dating, watching sports with friends or alone.

10. Le Boudoir

135 Atlantic Avenue (Brooklyn Heights)

This place has already been included in many lists of popular bars over the years, and it is no coincidence. Le Boudoir is an old bar inspired by the private chambers of Marie Antoinette, hidden behind a bookshelf.
