4 stages, 7 criteria: Cuomo presented a detailed plan for quitting quarantine in New York

The Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, on May 4 specified his plans for quarantining the state and outlined a four-stage strategy for opening the economy. Writes about this New York Post.

Last month, Cuomo said construction and manufacturing companies in less-affected areas would be the first sectors to resume work after the current state ban on business expires on May 15.

On May 4, he detailed this plan by voicing the four phases of quarantine removal in New York.

According to Cuomo, the first, in addition to the construction and manufacturing giants, will also be able to open wholesale suppliers and individual retail businesses that offer self-delivery of orders.

At the second stage, the opening of companies from the fields of finance and insurance, real estate and retail (which will not be included in the first group) is expected.

Restaurants and hotels will return to work in the third stage, and the fourth in the state will again open art and entertainment centers, as well as educational institutions.

Cuomo also announced a system of seven indicators, according to which a decision will be made on the transition of areas of the state to the gradual abolition of quarantine:

1. A decrease in the number of hospital admissions due to coronavirus within 14 days or less than 15 new hospital admissions per day over a three-day period.
2. Reduced mortality from COVID-19 within 14 days or less than five deaths on average per day over a three-day period.
3. The frequency of new hospitalizations is below 2 per 100 inhabitants (average for 000 days).
4. At least 30% of the total number of hospital beds in the region is not occupied.
5. At least 30% of hospital beds in intensive care units are free.
6. Conducting a minimum of 30 tests for every 1000 inhabitants per month.
7. In the region, at least 30 specialists work to track the contacts of coronavirus vectors for every 100 thousand inhabitants.

As of May 4, no area in New York State has completed more than five out of seven requirements.

Currently, the city of New York meets three criteria: a 14-day reduction in hospital admissions and mortality, as well as a minimum of 30 tests per 1000 inhabitants per month.
