No one really knows what it's like to survive death. However, a new virtual reality simulation created in Australia is offering people a taste of what it's like to die. NDTV. One of the objectives of the project is to combat the fear of death, which is very common among people.
The simulation is part of an exhibit called Passing Electrical Storms by Sean Gladwell. She is featured at the Melbourne Now event at the National Gallery of Victoria. Gladwell has developed "Augmented Reality" (AR) that takes participants through a simulated de-escalation of life from cardiac arrest to brain death.
People who have tested the simulation for themselves say that the moment of death was very “calming”.
Passing Electrical Storms is XR technology with deep impact and out-of-body character. Gladwell models the experience of dying with X-rays and medical technology. This interactive work, both meditative and disturbing, takes participants through a simulated de-escalation of life, from cardiac arrest to brain death.
Passing Electrical Storms offers an immersive experience both inside and outside the body.
People passing through virtual reality are connected to a heart monitor to monitor their real condition. You can stop the simulation at any time if the participant is too uncomfortable. Employees are ready to "pull" you out if you get too anxious.
