Hundreds of people came to Cortland Street on May 16, waiting for the long-awaited opening Century 21. It was scheduled for 12:00, but people were on duty at the door from 6:00, the smartest ones took folding chairs with them.

The line went around the entire building, which housed the revived store. Probably even the organizers themselves were eager to open, because they did not wait until 12:00 and started letting people in half an hour earlier.

The new store is smaller than its predecessor that closed due to the pandemic. It has four floors and 100 square feet (000 sq. m), the previous department store occupied 9 floors in the same building. But the essence of Century 290 has remained the same - huge discounts on branded goods, including clothes, bags, suitcases.

As soon as the doors opened, the line quickly spread to all floors. People tried on shoes, looked into bags, looked at clothes.

On the first floor, prizes were raffled among the opening guests, and flyers with an additional discount were handed out at the entrance. So those who came to Century 21 on opening day were lucky enough to buy goods at an even greater discount than the store usually offers.

ForumDaily New York correspondent Olesya Vishnevskaya met a Russian-speaking family in line. They said they were looking forward to the opening of the store - for them, Century 21 is one of the best department stores in New York in terms of price and quality of goods.

Their opinion is supported by the American Dzhulberta: “I have been waiting for this for three years. I used to buy everything at Century 21, and then all of a sudden it disappeared.”

At the store, the stylist girl told Olesya that she had dressed her customers in Macy's during the closing of the department store, but now she is returning to Century 21.

On the ground floor there are shops with shoes, suitcases and children's clothing. The main level (ground floor) features a wide range of handbags (including YSL and Louis Vuitton), sunglasses (including Rayban), perfumes and belts. On the second floor - women's clothing, on the third - men's.
