The famous "Attacking Bull" sculpture may disappear from Broadway and be registered at a different address - ostensibly in the interests of public safety. This is stated in the video of the TV channel "Present".

“The bronze bull statue appeared on Broadway 30 years ago and quickly became an important New York landmark. But the city authorities want to remove her from the street, ”the source notes.

It is reported that the authorities decided to move the popular sculpture, since there are always a lot of people around it and therefore terrorists can choose it as an object for a crime.

At the same time, the chairman of the board of the park association Arthur Piccolo said that for the entire time that the sculpture stood here, there were no incidents around it.

However, according to one recent study, the constant crowding of people makes the Broadway Triangle a potential target for terrorists.

According to one of the workers who is involved in the dismantling of the sculpture, this is done for security purposes.

“We are blocking this area for security purposes. That the car could not enter this territory and run over someone, ”he commented.

When asked why it was decided to remove the sculpture right now, 30 years after it was installed here, he said: “I don’t know, this is not my decision.”

An American sculptor of Italian origin Arturo Di Modica created a bronze statue weighing 3200 kilogram.

Initially, the sculpture was really located near the stock exchange building, where it was installed in December 1989 of the year. It is noted that the sculptor created and installed it at his own expense - as a sign of love for New York and as a symbol of financial growth. However, then the city did not appreciate such a gift and the very next day the bull was transported to Broadway - by the way, also for the author’s money.

Today, the author of the statue does not want her return to the roots. In his opinion, the transfer of the “Attacking Bull” will not prevent and protect the city from anything.

“If you already do something like that, security measures should be applied in Times Square, where every day millions of people stop and take photos in the middle of the road and passing cars,” says the author of the sculpture, who now lives in Italy.

According to Piccolo, whose association protects the landmark, this is not the first attempt by Bill De Blasio "to move the bull from its place of residence."

The first time the mayor announced his desire to move the sculpture happened during the transfer of another statue - "Fearless Girl".

Last year, according to Piccolo, the mayor again declared his desire to move the bull just in the middle of the night, but in the end the sculpture was not touched.

Public opinion

The Lower Manhattan Alliance, an association that develops and modernizes the area, registered a bull in its drawings back in April 2018. However, most New Yorkers are clearly not happy with this idea.

So, according to one of the residents of the city, the transfer of the sculpture is a waste of money.

“There is no intelligible reason why it should be moved. Now the crowd is here, then it will gather there. What is the point?" She laments.

Defenders of the bull ask to move the sculpture to a wide discussion, but it is not yet clear who will take part in it.
