On this day, a new exhibition will be opened in the library. The Awe of the Arctic: A Visual History. It provides an overview of the works of artists and explorers who have depicted Arctic territories for 500 years. Most of the exhibits were taken from the extensive collection of the New York Public Library.
They display illustrations from 16th-century explorers to contemporary photographs. The exhibition will present different types of imaging techniques - from woodcuts and engravings to digital prints. The works make us think about the relevance of the problem of climate change.
The New York Public Library is known for its free exhibitions, which are held in all of its branches. For example, the main building is currently hosting an exhibition featuring artifacts spanning 4 years of history. On it you can hear the voices of the past.
