More than 120 refrigerators with free food installed in different parts of New York: how to find them

The NYC Community Fridges program kicked off in New York in the summer of 2020. Caring people and charitable organizations set up refrigerators with free food for those in need in different parts of the city. Anyone could fill them, and anyone in need could take food from them.

Now there are 127 such refrigerators in the city - in all districts of the city. In July 2020, the special cardto find out how to find public refrigerators closest to you.

The map works this way: when you click on the refrigerator you are interested in, a window pops up with its exact address (linked to Google maps) and the latest photos taken by users. Map available here to register:.

Currently, an application for this program is being developed, which will help not only find refrigerators, but also track their fullness.

In these refrigerators you can find almost any food: vegetables, fruits, meat, semi-finished products, sauces, groceries, as well as ready-made snacks, which some residents of the city decided to please those who need it.
