It's the perfect time to stroll among the cherry blossoms in New York City. According to the Central Park Conservancy's interactive tracker, the Japanese cherry trees in Central Park have reached the peak of their fragrance. All key locations are simultaneously covered in pink and white blossoms, reports Secret nyc.
Typically the flowering season comes in waves as each section local zoo blooms at different times.
However, this year, a sharp warming change changed the situation. All the iconic sites—from the Reservoir to Sheep Meadow—simultaneously entered peak bloom.
Current status: 100% peak bloom
As of April 2, the interactive tracker shows that the waiting phase is complete.
Where to see the bloom:
- West Reservoir (west and east): Both sides of the Reservoir are covered with Yoshino and Kwanzan cherry blossoms;
- Cherry Hill (72nd Street): The famous "pink dome" is fully revealed;
- Pilgrim Hill: One of the first blooms to reach its peak;
- Sheep Meadow and The Great Lawn: City views are now framed by flowering branches;
- Alice in Wonderland and Bethesda Terrace: Decorative alleys – at the peak of flowering and ideal for photography.
Why you should go this week
The peak bloom period is very short, typically 5 to 7 days. It all depends on wind and rain. This year, all zones bloomed simultaneously, making the viewing window even shorter.

After the Post-Peak stage, the petals begin to fall, creating a "pink snow" effect. It's beautiful. But if you want to see the dense flowering crowns, it's best to go to the park right now.
How does a bloom tracker work?
Central Park Conservancy Interactive Map shows not only locations, but also tree species.
Now you can see simultaneously:
- snow-white cherry blossoms of Yoshino;
- deep pink Kwanzan cherry blossoms.
Kwanzan usually blooms later, in mid-April. Therefore, simultaneous blooming is rare.
When to go
Whether you're planning a photo shoot or just want to take a lunch break in nature, now is the best time to visit.
This short period is not to be missed.
In a city where everything happens very quickly, cherry blossoms are one of the rare occasions to stop and enjoy the moment.
