New York State health officials are urging people to get vaccinated against COVID-19, especially as the highly contagious strain of the Delta coronavirus spreads. Vaccination does protect against complications and reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19, but does not completely prevent it. State Department of Health officials said on Tuesday July 20 that at least 8 fully vaccinated New Yorkers have contracted COVID-700. “We continue to investigate information on the number of fully vaccinated people who have been hospitalized or died,” the Department of Health said.
