A girl from Ukraine who lost her arm due to a wound received the lightest high-tech prosthesis in the world in New York

9-year-old Sasha Filipchuk, who suffered from Russian aggression and lost her arm due to shelling in Gostomel, came to the United States for treatment and received a modern high-tech prosthesis in New York. About how heroically this girl endured all the difficulties told the publication "Observer".

Evacuation and shelling

At the very beginning of a full-scale war, Sasha and his family left the occupied Gostomel. On the way, their car was shot at by the Russian military.

As a result of the shelling, the stepfather died on the spot, and the child, along with his mother, miraculously escaped - they found shelter in the nearest building. Despite the serious injury, Sasha was brought to the hospital only two days later. Doctors did their best to save the child, but the arm had to be amputated.

Having received a terrible wound, the girl did not lose heart and showed courage and resilience that was not childish at all.

The girl's father was looking for his daughter for more than a day - from the moment he found out about the incident.

“My 9-year-old child (from a previous marriage) came under fire when the family tried to leave Gostomel. This happened a few hours ago. They shot the car, her "second dad" was killed when he was driving. The child went missing with his mother. There has been no connection for several hours. Phones are off,” he wrote on his Facebook on March 4.

Only a day later, Sasha and her mother were found. It took a few more days to take them out of the encircled city, which the Russian invaders were constantly shelling.

All this time, the girl was in pain from a serious injury. A lot of time was lost and the doctors still had to amputate the wounded arm.

“The condition is stable. Smiling, eating, talking on the phone. He said that she was very strong and that she was a hero. What does the whole of Ukraine and the whole world know about it. She is pleased. She's holding on. Now Sasha and other children are being taken to the border in specialized vehicles. From there to a foreign clinic. With mom. They are waiting for the second operation. Then rehabilitation for Sasha and mom, ”said Sasha’s dad a week after the operation.

On August 30, it became known that Sasha got the lightest prosthesis in the world - truelimb. She can move her fingers and has already demonstrated the Ukrainian symbol - the trident.
