Looking for a fantastic day trip to New York for the whole family? One place worth visiting is Old Reinbeck Airfield in Dutchess County. It's fun for anyone interested in flight history. Unlike the dry, static displays of most museums, the collections at Stary Reinbek airfield can be seen in action. Old airplanes and their reproductions are kept here, which are regularly shown at public air shows. Only In Your State.

The air show is one of the main attractions of the facility. Air battles are played out in the sky, written in the spirit of old silent film dramas. There are even recurring characters like the Black Baron that appear every week.
Each time you can see a different plane in the sky. The museum has about 20 flying preparations that revolve in the sky.
Many of the museum aircraft are actually originals, such as the 4 Thomas-Morse-S-1918B. That is, one of the world's largest collections of iron birds from 1900-1937 is located at the airport.
One of the jewels of the museum is a replica of the Spirit of Saint Louis, one of the most famous aircraft in the world. The original aircraft, piloted by Charles Lindbergh, was the first aircraft to fly across the Atlantic Ocean.

The reproduction posted at the airfield is almost entirely historically accurate, with the exception of the outboard tanks.
The field hosts all sorts of events involving remote controlled aircraft that attract participants from all over the country. Controlled RC planes are scaled-down versions of antique flying machines in the museum.
For an additional fee, you can even take a 15-minute flight on a historic biplane! The 1929 reproduction plane has an open cockpit and is a truly unique way to get around the area.
The museum is open seasonally - from May to the end of October.
