City service exams in New York: tests for which professions are accepted in April

The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) has released the April Municipal Service Exam Application Schedule. Open comparative computer tests are held every month for various positions, reports Silive.
The DCAS Computer Testing and Application Centers (CTACs), where exams are taken, have reopened to the public. However, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) all appointments must be scheduled in the Online Application System (OASys).
Applications for tests will begin on April 6 for the following positions:
- asbestos hazard researcher;
- cashier;
- chief ship engineer (diesel fuel);
- assistant secretary;
- computer assistant;
- Trainee Analyst in the Department of Education;
- inspector (hoists and rigging);
- inspector (housing);
- investigator;
- office assistant;
- maintenance worker;
- ship lubricator;
- radio repair mechanic
- Recreation Supervisor;
- secretary;
- Secretary (New York H+H);
- Special Officer (New York H+H).

Hundreds of thousands of people work in New York City's 80 municipal services. Taking the test is a way to start the admissions process for work for most of these positions. The application fee for the test is between $40 and $101.

In early August last year, former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that all newly hired city workers would be required to be vaccinated against the coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to DCAS, it usually takes 9 to 12 months after an exam to complete an appropriate list of test takers. From among them, the services select candidates for further recruitment.
