In September and October in Kings Bay Library There will be several events that may be of interest to Russian-speaking New Yorkers. We offer you their schedule.
September 9: digital photo of Zinovy Genkin
The season will open with the presentation of a new exhibition by Zinovy Genkin “The Art of Digital (Digital) Photography”.
This event was organized by the Jewish Guild of Fine and Applied Arts. The exhibition runs from August 28 to September 15 at the Kings Bay Library in Brooklyn. And the presentation and meeting with the author of the works will take place on Saturday, September 9, at 12:00
Zinovy Genkin was born in Leningrad (Russia), worked as a leading engineer at several research institutes. He moved to the USA in 1989, worked for some time in his specialty, and then for 11 years - in several schools in New York. In retirement, he completed courses in computer graphics, design and digital photography at Kingsborough Community College.

September 23: music
On Saturday, September 23 at 14:00, a concert by Mikhail Bulychev-Oxer “Great Romantic Composers” will take place. You will hear works by Robert Schumann, Frederic Chopin, Felix Mendelssohn and Franz Liszt.

Michael Bulychev-Oxer is a world-famous American pianist, composer and producer. He has performed on the most prestigious stages in the world: Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Kennedy Center, La Salle Pleyel (France), Wigmore Hall (London), Rachmaninoff Hall (Russia), Suur Saal (Estonia) and Centermex Theater ( Mexico).

September 30: meeting with Russian human rights activist Alexander Podrabinek
On Saturday, September 30 at 12:00, a meeting will be held with the well-known Russian human rights activist and author Alexander Podrabinek. Theme of the evening: "From Stalin to Putin and back."
An opponent of lawlessness under all authorities, a legendary dissident, a fighter against punitive medicine, a writer and publicist - all this is Alexander Podrabinek.
The guest will analyze the post-Soviet events that led to Putinism and the war between Russia and Ukraine, and will also present his new historical and biographical book “The Third Life”.
Meeting topics:
- Situation in Russia. Restoration of totalitarianism, total propaganda, the state of society and civil resistance to it.
- Parallels between the Soviet Union and Putin's Russia and the differences between these two systems.
- What went “wrong” in the 1990s and whether Putinism was inevitable.

October 14: the power of words
On Saturday, October 14 at 14:00 we will meet with Irina Chaikovskaya, editor of the Chaika magazine. She presents not only her journal and her writings (she is the author of 20 books on literary criticism), but also another interesting researcher and person - Olga Trifonova-Tangyan, daughter of the writer Yuri Trifonov.
Irina Chaykovskaya - Writer, critic, playwright, Slavic teacher, editor-in-chief of the American Russian-language magazine Chaika. Irina will talk about her writing work, about the new book “Around Turgenev”, published by the Moscow publishing house “Academic Project” and containing several “breakthrough articles” that allow a fresh look at some of the facts of the writer's biography.
Olga Trifonova-Tangyan - the daughter of the writer Yuri Trifonov and the soloist of the Bolshoi Theater Opera Nina Nelina. She is the author of publications on American and Danish literature, as well as historical and biographical essays.
