Google has announced the opening of its first physical retail store, the Google Store. The outlet will open in New York this summer, writes The Verge.

The store will be located in Chelsea, on the Google campus in the area (where the company's headquarters in New York is already located). The Google Store will sell various products from the digital giant: Pixel phones, Nest smart home devices, Fitbit trackers, Pixelbooks, and more. Customers will also be able to order products from Google online stores and pick them up in person from the offline Google Store.
Google has experimented with small, temporary stores and kiosks in the past to sell its products, but the promised new outlet in New York will be permanent and large in size, making it the first of its kind for Google.
It looks like Google's idea is not entirely unique, and a lot of the company's stores will be borrowed from the Apple Store.
Like the Apple Store, the new Google Store will showcase how various Google products work together; the point of sale will have experts to help troubleshoot problems, set up devices, make repairs, and advise on how to get the most out of Google's products and services.

At the same time, Google stressed that although the new store will allow customers to try out new devices as much as possible, they will take precautions in it due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. These measures include limiting the number of customers, cleaning the store regularly, and requiring guests to wear masks, social distancing themselves and use hand sanitizer while in the store.
The Google store in Chelsea will open to the public in the summer. Google has yet to announce an exact opening date or whether it will expand beyond a single outlet in the future.
