We often hear that having moved from their native country, a person found his home, happiness and even got a family in America. However, not all stories have such an end, often immigrants decide to return to their homeland. Whether such a development of events can be considered a happy ending, only the main characters of such stories know. The publication told about one of them. DOGS.
The heroine of the story is a native of St. Petersburg (Russia) Albina, who moved to New York and then returned to her hometown.
Random immigration
Six years ago, having received her education in media design, Albina was engaged in a store design project. When a friend called her with a proposal to fill out a questionnaire in the green card draw for the company, Albina treated this as a game.
A few months later, a friend announced that she had not won the lottery, while Albina was on the list of winners of the green card. Since she did not like bureaucracy, she immediately abandoned the idea of moving, because the list of documents and procedures for the lottery winners is huge. However, later the girl decided to take the chance, since fate gave it to her.
Cool work in the USA goes only to the stubborn
On the plane to New York, one of the fellow travelers promised Albina a job as a waitress, "after all, everyone does that, especially if the English is not up to the mark." Agree, there are always a lot of such "well-wishers".
But the girl decided not to listen to anyone but herself. From the first day she started looking for work by education. She visited all the boutiques on Madison Avenue, leaving in each of them her resume and a story about herself, in particular, that she has experience in store design.
She went through 5 interviews every day, stood in long lines, but many employers were looking only for sellers. Albina believed that she would find a job in her profession. Overcoming your fears she met every manager in boutiques, where she left her resume.

Through efforts, she managed to find a company that recruited employees without local experience. Five out of six attempts to get a job there were unsuccessful, but for the sixth time she got the job of her dreams.
“It is important to be clearly aware of how much your professionalism is enough, but at the same time not to underestimate the level of your knowledge. And, of course, treat everything with a share of adventurism, ”Albina advises to job seekers in New York.
The decision to return to Russia on the crest of the wave of the American Dream
Albina has lived in the United States for 5 years, has managed to become a regional representative of the company in which she dreamed of working. She enjoyed life in New York, took everything from her: visited museums, drawing studios, walked along the ocean, but life in a metropolis is not always as rosy as many imagine.
Albina realized that she was tired, and what seemed at first a game and an adventure turned into constant background stress.
“Despite all its advantages, this is a very expensive city. I was constantly under great stress because of the bills that had to be paid, ”says Albina.
In addition to bills, in New York there are almost no prospects for purchasing your own home, living with neighbors in a rented apartment is a common thing. In St. Petersburg, she was able to become the owner of her own apartment.
Another reason for moving is mom.
“She is not getting younger, and if something happens to her while I am far away from her, I will never forgive myself for this,” Albina admitted.
In addition, the United States gave her the opportunity to better understand herself, to see her strengths and weaknesses. Now she is grateful for this invaluable experience, and she is sure that the decision to return to her homeland is the best.
