Texas governor sent a bus full of illegal immigrants to New York

The governor of Texas, in protest against the "open borders policy" pursued by the White House, sent a bus with illegal immigrants to New York, writes New York Post.

Just days after New York City Mayor Eric Adams turned down an invitation from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to visit the southern US border, a busload of illegal immigrants was sent into downtown Manhattan.

Abbott's office said that on the morning of August 5, more than 50 immigrants arrived by bus at Gate 14 at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York. At the same time, the Republican governor did not specify any additional details, for example, how many people exactly were and from which countries they came to the United States.

The transportation of illegal immigrants from Texas to New York is one of several actions by Abbott to combat the bulk of immigrants in the state he controls. Since Texas is located directly on the border with Mexico, it suffers more than other regions from illegal immigrants arriving in the United States. Abbott blames the administration of Democratic President Joe Biden for this and sends illegal immigrants from Texas to Democratic-ruled states in response. It has already sent dozens of buses to Washington, D.C., and has facilitated the movement of more than 6100 immigrants to the U.S. capital since April "in response to the Biden administration's open border policy, which is negatively impacting Texan communities."

“Due to President Biden's continued refusal to acknowledge the crisis caused by his open borders policy, the state of Texas has been forced to take unprecedented action to keep our communities safe,” Abbott said. “Besides Washington, New York is the perfect place for these immigrants. They can get an abundance of city services, as well as housing, because New York has declared itself a city of refuge (for illegal immigrants), which Mayor Eric Adams is so proud of. I hope he makes good on his promise to welcome all immigrants with open arms so that our crowded frontier towns can breathe a sigh of relief."

The Republican Governor's office also mentioned New York City's right-to-housing laws. According to this document, every homeless person must receive "emergency shelter" from local authorities.

At the same time, Adams has already warned that the city's homeless shelters are overflowing with illegal immigrants.

New York City Hall spokesman Fabien Levy later said, “Governor Abbott has finally admitted to what he has been doing all this time. That he continues to use people as political pawns is disgusting and a shameful stain on the state of Texas."

“New York will continue to welcome asylum seekers with open arms as always, but we are asking for resources to help us get through this. We need Washington's help to fight the cruel political games played by inept politicians like the governor of Texas," Levy said.

Adams already said last month that Texas and Arizona were smuggling illegal immigrants into New York and urged President Biden to provide federal resources to deal with the influx of people into the city. However, then not only Abbott, but also Arizona Governor Doug Ducey unanimously declared that they were not involved in this, but the federal government was behind everything.

In response, Abbott invited Adams to visit the southern border to "see firsthand the dire situation".

“Your recent interest in this historic and preventable crisis is a welcome development, especially given that the president and his administration have shown neither remorse for their actions nor a desire to resolve the situation themselves,” Abbott said to Adams. - As governor, I invite you to visit our border region to see firsthand the critical situation, which is becoming more acute every day. And to meet with local authorities who, like you, understand that this issue deserves immediate action at the federal level.”

On August 4, Abbott reiterated his invitation to Adams and Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser during an appearance on Fox News.

“I really would like them to come down from heaven because local officials across the country need to realize the extent of the chaos that Biden's open borders policy has created,” Abbott said. Are they outraged that several thousand people have come to their communities in the last few months? Look, in any sector of the state of Texas, every single day, there are 5000 people who cross the border.

"We're full in Texas," Abbott said. “Our region is overcrowded, and I started taking people to Washington when we couldn’t handle the flow of people anymore.”

It is noted that all immigrants who arrived in Washington and New York on the governor's bus went there voluntarily, since they are allowed to travel in the United States after passing through all customs and border services.

As a rule, when illegal immigrants cross the border and a court date is set for their case, they are issued documents allowing them to remain in the United States.
