The New York City mayor's office has announced the opening of English language learning and support centers (MOIA English Learning and Support Centers) for migrants. There, visitors are helped to learn English and gain access to city resources.
The centers offer migrants free English classes at elementary and intermediate levels. They use a city-developed curriculum We Speak NYC.
Support Centers
The free English learning centers in New York City are a partnership between the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs and 10 community organizations. The selected organizations represent a diverse group with broad outreach to New York's migrant population across all five boroughs of the city.
The centers will operate under the following organizations:
- Life of Hope
- Mexican Coalition
- Muslim Community Network
- Mixteca
- Project New Yorker
- Korean Community Services (KCS)
- United Sikhs
- DSI International, Inc.
- La Colmena
- Laal NYC
This program has been expanded to more than 60 branches of the Queens Public Library, Brooklyn Public Library and New York Public Library. Each library will receive funding to organize English classes.

In addition to opening centers as part of the We Speak NYC curriculum, three new episodes of the series about migrants will be released.
