Immigrants in New York will help to obtain US citizenship for free: conditions of the new program

The Mayor of New York announced the launch of the NYC Fall Citizenship Drive program. It aims to give immigrants the opportunity to be tested for eligibility for naturalization, as well as to help them apply for US citizenship. Details of the program are described in a press release from the City Hall's Office of Immigrant Affairs.
NYC Fall Citizenship Drive will conduct naturalization tests for New York City immigrants and provide them with free citizenship application assistance.

An estimated 589 legal immigrants in New York City are currently eligible for naturalization. Of these, approximately 000 are low income and have poor English proficiency. Fall Citizenship Drive aims to reach this population through a series of events hosted by the City Hall's Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA), the City University of New York (CUNY) and a range of community organizations.
Program activities
The program includes two large-scale activities to assist in applying for naturalization. The events will be managed by CUNY and the organizers expect that each will help 200-300 people. The first such event will take place on November 20 at MS 2 in Brooklyn from 10:00 to 14:30. The second is scheduled for December (date and venue will be announced in the coming weeks).
In addition, from October to December 2021, a number of community organizations will provide assistance to immigrants seeking US citizenship in all five boroughs of the city. The organizations will conduct outreach, naturalization checks and help with citizenship applications.
