Testing for antibodies in New York showed that nearly three million people in the state could be carriers of coronavirus. This publication writes Fox News.
Preliminary test results for antibodies to coronavirus showed that the average infection rate in the state is 13,9%. If this is the case, it could mean that about 2,7 million residents could be carriers of the virus, but did not know about it. Such a statement was made on Thursday, April 23, by the Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo.
3000 samples were collected in 40 locations in 19 districts. Experts suggest that the infection rate in, say, New York City reaches 21,2%.
“These are people who have been infected and their bodies have developed antibodies to fight the infection,” Cuomo said. “That is, they had a virus, their body developed antibodies, and now they have“ recovered ”.

Testing was conducted at sites installed in grocery stores.
“These are people who went shopping,” Cuomo explained. "Not those who are in their home, who have isolated themselves or are in quarantine - they most likely have a lower infection rate because they did not leave their homes."
Nearly 70% of total testing was conducted in the Westchester, New York City, and Long Island regions.
On Long Island, 16,7% of tested residents tested positive for antibodies, 11,7% in Westchester and Rockland counties, and 3,6% on average in the rest of the state.
