New York has a variety of English language learning opportunities aimed at immigrants. Free lessons are offered by the program We Speak NYC.

You can learn English using pre-recorded videos or during live classes (now they are taking place online due to the pandemic).

Here, immigrants are invited to watch videos in which New Yorkers who once moved here tell their stories in English. Heroes bring up important topics to enable learners to improve their language skills, as well as learn about their rights and gain access to city services.

The speech patterns used by the characters in the video are convenient to use in everyday life.

Educational materials can be listened to online or downloaded for use on the go.

Live classes online

Immigrants who know English at an intermediate level (Intermediate) can attend free weekly spoken English lessons (now they are online).
