Working as a New York City employee has always attracted the attention of metropolitan residents, especially immigrants. How do you get a job in one of these positions? The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) has published application schedule for the civil service exams in August. DCAS's Computer Testing and Application Centers (CTACs), where examinations take place, have reopened to the public. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, personal visits are no longer allowed and meetings must be scheduled at Online Application System (OASys).

Applications will open this month on 4 August for examinations for the following positions: Electrician Assistant (General Certificate); assistant electrician at CUNY; Electrician Assistant at NYC H + H; CHP technician to housing administration; housing exterminator; living quarters worker; NYC H + H Building Maintenance Worker and School Security Officer.
Hundreds of thousands of people work in 80 services in New York. Taking the test is a way to start the recruiting process for most of these positions. The application fee is between $ 40 and $ 101.

Important addresses and dates
On Staten Island, the test center is located at 135 Canal St., Stapleton. Testing centers in other boroughs are located at:
- 2 Lafayette St., Manhattan;
- 210 Joralemon St., Brooklyn;
- 118-35 Queens Blvd., Queens;
- 1932 Arthur Ave., the Bronx.
According to DCAS, it usually takes 9 to 12 months after an exam to complete a list of those who have successfully passed the exams and will be hired.

DCAS announced that the list of those who passed the exams, which were originally due to expire between March 16, 2020 and December 31, 2020, will be extended by one year.
In addition, the lists of people who passed the exams for police officer, police dispatcher, traffic enforcement agent and school security officer, which were due to expire between January 1, 2021 and January 31, will also be extended by one year. December 2021.
