From the Ukrainian province to the judges of an incredible talent show in New York: the story of Ksana Sergienko

Today Ksana Sergienko is a film and stage star, a judge at a New York talent show, and she once went to a music studio in Ukraine in her mother’s Zaporozhets. Ksana told us her incredible success story, how from an ordinary girl from the province she became a real star. Next is her story from the first person.

I was born in the provincial Ukrainian town of Mirgorod, but for the last 11 years I have been living in New York.

My career began quite early - at the age of three I was already singing on stage. And at six, my parents enrolled me in a music school, which I successfully graduated from.

I went to record my first song with my mother at “Zaporozhets”

At the age of 12, I asked my mother to break out my piggy bank and spend all my savings on a music teacher and recording my first song. And I am very grateful to her for agreeing. The recording studio was not in our little Mirgorod, but in Poltava. We went there every day for about two and a half hours in my mother’s Zaporozhets. The stove was working inside, the car smelled of gasoline and our clothes along with it.

When we arrived, they recognized us by our smell: “Oh, Mirgorod has arrived!” The legendary car is still alive. And with that song I made my debut on local television. This was the beginning of my journey!

After finishing the 9th grade, I entered the Variety and Circus College in Kyiv, where I successfully studied for 3 years, until I received a sudden offer to move to America and try myself in a musical group. So I ended up in a large American cabaret called “Rasputin”, where I worked for about 8 years and met my first love there.

A new step in my career growth was participation in the American television show The Voice. I successfully completed three stages of the qualifying round, when I suddenly received an offer to take part in the Russian TV show of the same name. Without hesitation, I accepted this offer and flew to Moscow. So suddenly and completely unexpectedly for me, my career began to develop in a new direction and in a completely different country.

And so, from an ordinary girl from the provinces, I became a real star thanks to my talent, self-confidence and incredible performance. I realized my dream and now continue to inspire all talented people despite the difficulties.

Now a new chapter is opening before me - participation in a unique talent show as a jury member.
