A video of a Tiktoker reviewing a New York apartment that can be rented for $12 a month has gone viral. Viewers said they were shocked by the skyrocketing rental prices in the city.
Stephanie Lee typically posts fashion and lifestyle content on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. At the end of May, she decided to move out of her apartment in the Flatiron neighborhood of Manhattan. Looking around different apartments in the city, she filmed a video and shared her opinion with viewers on TikTok.
On June 3, Lee, who has 47 followers on TikTok, posted a room tour of two apartments that cost $000 and $8 a month to rent. While her videos usually get thousands of views, her room tours have amassed 000 million views.
On the video the girl is shown walking around each of the two apartments. Both apartments have two bedrooms and almost no furniture.
Renting a small kitchen in one of the apartments, she said: “This apartment costs $8000, which is absurd. This is a good apartment, but not that good.”
Other commentators noted that there was rubbish on the floor of one of the apartments.
“$8000 a month and they couldn’t even sweep the floors,” says one of the top comments with 89 likes.
