Firefighters worked more than 12 hours to put out a massive blaze in Western New York, reports ABC7.
The fire started around 17:00 on 1 December. It spanned a four-story building that contained a small grocery store on the ground floor.
Newscopter 7 spotted firefighters working on the roof of the building last night.
“Tonight I was at the scene of a terrible fire on Madison Street with our city building chief,” Fire Commissioner Cosmo Cirillo said. “The outstanding work of the North Hudson firefighters helped contain the situation as much as possible. All were evacuated safely. My thoughts and feelings are with the displaced families at this difficult time.”

A total of 41 families were evacuated, all received assistance from the Red Cross.
The organization said that 25 affected families live in the building where the fire broke out. The remaining 16 families settled in the building on 55th Street.
Western New York provides housing while the Red Cross provides financial support.
