Mass shooting in Jerusalem: five US residents injured, New Yorker in critical condition

A Brooklyn man was critically injured while trying to protect his family from a Palestinian terrorist during a shooting in Jerusalem on August 14. A pregnant woman, also injured in the attack, had to have an emergency caesarean section. New York Post. A total of 8 people were injured, five of them Americans.

“The father of the family, Shia Hersh Glick of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was shot in the neck while protecting his wife and children from the shooter,” Senator Chuck Schumer said at a news conference in New York.

According to Schumer, Glick is a cancer survivor and loved by everyone in the community. He is now in critical condition on a ventilator. But doctors expect him to survive. His son was less seriously injured and was shot in the right arm.

And a 35-year-old pregnant woman, also American, had an emergency C-section after being shot in the stomach. This was announced by Dr. Alon Schwartz from the Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

“The baby is being intubated in the neonatal intensive care unit and is in critical condition,” Schwartz said.

The fifth American injured in the shooting is 22-year-old Menahem Palace, also from Brooklyn, nothing threatens his life.

At some point, a Palestinian terrorist opened fire on the bus, injuring 8 tourists, including 5 Americans.

“I looked to the right at the window I was sitting next to and saw that it was completely broken. I quickly ducked down and saw blood on my shoulder,” Palace said. “Because of the adrenaline, I didn’t notice that the bullet hit my shoulder.”

Among the victims of the gunshot wound are also two Israeli brothers, who were identified by the media as 19-year-old Elazar and 16-year-old Dovi.

“My two brothers were together last night waiting for the bus,” their older brother Yair said. Elazar helped the woman into the bus. The shooter, 26-year-old East Jerusalem resident Amir Sidawi, took a taxi to the police station later Sunday. He turned himself in to the police. Taxi driver Shalom Harush said he had no idea at the time that he was carrying a terrorist.
