Bumble Inc., a dating app that “takes women first,” will open its date café in New York on July 24. The establishment will be called Bumble Brew, writes Bloomberg.
A café and wine dating bar was slated to open in the fall of 2019 in Manhattan's Soho area. Problems with obtaining licenses and then a pandemic delayed its launch and also changed the concept.
Bumble Brew, a partnership between the Bumble app and Italian restaurant Pasquale Jones, will now open on Kenmare Street in the Nolita area.
Originally, the Bumble Brew concept was focused on dating food that was designed to be easy and, above all, beautiful to eat. That is, no burgers with sauce or any other dish that could embarrass you at the table.
“No spaghetti - nothing awkward to eat on a first date,” said Caroline Ellis Roche, chief executive of Bumble, in 2019.
However, the idea has now changed. The cafe has been reformatted into "a safe place to build healthy and equal relationships and acquaintances." It will also allow people who have been at home for too long and need a break to have a full meal.

The cafe is designed mainly for Mediterranean and vegetable dishes. The bar will serve cheeseburgers, and yes, even potentially dangerous dating dishes like zucchini spaghetti and chitarra.
The restaurant has an impressive coffee and wine menu, according to Ryan Hardy, chef and co-owner of Pasquale Jones who will oversee dining at Bumble Brew. The average cost of a meal is about $ 20.
Despite the popularity of online chatting during the pandemic, video calls on Bumble increased by 70% during this time. The company evaluates this data as a sign of growing interest in real communication.
The restaurant will work around the clock, but this schedule will come in stages. From July 24, breakfast will be served there, from July 31 - lunch, and dinners will be available from August 7.
Decorated in the signature Bumble yellow color, the space includes an 80-seat restaurant as well as a cocktail bar, patio and private dining rooms. Sometimes the establishment plans to hold dating and dating events.
