Severe frost, snowstorms and spray from Lake Erie have turned buildings in Hamburg, New York, into ice sculptures. The videos filmed in the city show houses covered in ice and a famous local restaurant - it seems that people simply cannot be inside.
Restaurant owner Kevin Hawk told the publication NBCthat buildings in the city began to grow icicles on December 23, and the process accelerated over the weekend.
“So it started on Friday. Around 8-9 a.m., the wind from the lake eventually caused the building to freeze over due to extreme temperature changes,” Hawke said.
The restaurant is far from the only place in the city covered in ice. Just look at this incredible video. It looks fascinating, although it is easy to imagine that the ice most likely damaged the buildings badly. And when he starts to melt, the damage will be even greater.
Hamburg and all of western New York hit hardest from a winter storm that engulfed the US at Christmas.
