New York early Saturday morning was more like the North Pole: major airports reported record low temperatures, the air was also very frosty in Central Park, and Bryant Park's famous fountain looked like a huge icicle. The publication told about the cold weather in the Big Apple New York Post.
JFK Airport in Queens hit a record low of 4 degrees Fahrenheit (-15,5 Celsius), beating the old record on the same date in 1996, Fox Weather meteorologist Christopher Tate reported Feb. 4.

Newark Airport and LaGuardia Airport in Queens hit lows of 5 degrees (-15 Celsius), beating previous records set in 1996 of 7 and 10 degrees (-13,8 and -12,2), respectively.
In Central Park, the temperature dropped to 4 degrees (-15,5) at 07:00 on February 4 and approached the record low of 0 degrees (-17,7) on the same date in 1918, Tate said.

But due to the cold wind outside at 06:00 it was -15 Fahrenheit (-26,1 Celsius).
New Yorkers who want to experience the cold should dress well, as frostbite can develop on completely exposed skin within 20 minutes.
However, the cold weather will not last long: it is expected that by the end of Saturday, February 4, the temperature will rise to 30 degrees (-1,1), and on Sunday - to 50 degrees (+10).
The bone-chilling cold comes just a week after Central Park recorded record high monthly temperatures.
