The New York Transportation Administration (MTA) will hire 2000 bus drivers. For this purpose, the department will conduct job fair. It will be held on Saturday, August 17th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Bronx High School of Science (75 W 205 St, Bronx, NY 10468).
At the fair, you will be able to apply for bus driver positions with MTA Bus Company and MaBSTOA (affiliated agency). No pre-registration is needed, just show up at the fair at the designated time.
Bring your Social Security (SSN) card and a driver's license that shows you are qualified to drive a bus (Class A or B with an extension to carry passengers).
You will not be considered for a bus driver position if your driving record shows:
- six or more demerit points for a traffic violation in the last three years;
- three or more accidents in the 12 months preceding the job fair.
Those who are pre-screened at the job fair will be scheduled for a subsequent appointment for a full interview.
To work as a bus driver in New York, you must pass a drug test (despite the legality of marijuana in New York, bus drivers are prohibited from operating under the influence of cannabis). In addition, drivers are subject to random drug and alcohol tests throughout their employment.
