A New Yorker was convicted on October 19 for organizing the murder of his own father and the attempt on his brother. According to prosecutors, he did this in collusion with another person, hoping to gain control of the family's thriving real estate business, reports CBS News.
A federal jury found Anthony Zottola and his accomplice Jimen Ross guilty of conspiracy and contract murder committed in October 2018. The victim of the killer was 71-year-old Sylvester Zottola. An elderly man was shot while waiting for his coffee outside a McDonald's in the Bronx.
After that, Anthony Zottola tried to kill his brother Salvatore Zottola.
Zottola and Ross, who are also known as Ace and Boogie, face life sentences.
Zottola repeatedly tried to kill his father
Family business owner Silvestre Zottola survived several assassination attempts before a hitman managed to kill him in 2018. At the end of 2017, he was threatened by a masked gunman, but then there were no injuries. In early 2018, an unknown person stabbed him and slit his throat, but the 71-year-old man survived.
Hymen Ross ended up following the elder Zottola to McDonald's using a tracking device in his car. After that, he shot him several times.
“For more than a year, the elderly Sylvester Zottola was harassed, beaten and stabbed,” prosecutor Breon Peace said. It was his own son who did it. He wanted to control the lucrative family business so much that he hired a gang of assassins to take down his father.”

Assassination attempt on brother
Hitmen hired by Anthony Zottola also attacked his brother Salvatore. Near his house, he was shot in the head, chest and arm, but the man survived.
