Coney Island to host eccentric Mermaid Parade in June

Mermaid Parade, an eccentric Coney Island tradition, will return to New York in June. The parade is an incredible sight: marching bands, decorated floats, vintage cars and thousands of participants dressed as mermaids, Neptunes and other fabulous sea creatures.

The 41st annual Mermaid Parade will begin on Coney Island on Saturday, June 17th at 13pm.

This event attracts thousands of spectators and 3000 participants. The costumes of Neptune and the Mermaid Queen usually go to celebrities. This year, the names of the star participants have not yet been announced, but you can be sure that the organizers will not let you down.

New York Mermaid Parade Route

The procession will begin at West 21st Street and Surf Avenue. The mermaids will then head east to West 10th Street. From there, the parade will turn south towards the boardwalk. Cars and motorized platforms, bypassing West 10th Street, will continue along Surf Avenue and then leave the parade.

At the boardwalk, the marchers will turn west and head towards West 17th Street. The parade will end at Steeplechase Plaza.

Mermaid Ball

The Mermaid Ball, the official post-parade party, will take place at the Coney Island Brewery at 1904 Surf Ave on June 17 from 17:00 pm to 22:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased here.
