The Hudson River Park Trust is set to begin beach development this spring as part of its larger project on the Gunseworth Peninsula in the Meatpacking area. The 5,5 acre (2,2 ha) project will include a salt marsh, sports fields, a dog track and a sandy beach with kayaks.
Swimming on this beach will be prohibited. This is good considering the questionable water quality in the Hudson River. The beach is being equipped to serve as a protective barrier against floods and storm surges. Ultimately, this place could turn into another great location for photography lovers.
