A billboard with Putin's image was placed in Times Square: what's going on

The conservative non-profit organization announced on March 1 a new billboard on Times Square in New York. The ad urges President Biden to ditch Russian oil amid the country's invasion of Ukraine. Fox Business.

"Hey Vlad. You went! No Russian oil. It's time for American oil. Earn more, pay less. Come on, Joe. It's not difficult, ”the billboard says (you can see his photo here).

Biden has been criticized for his decision to cancel the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would bring oil from Canada to the United States. He has also been criticized for his subsequent decision to lift sanctions on Russia's Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which would bring gas from Russia to Germany.

Biden announced new sanctions against pipeline owners last week amid the crisis in Ukraine.

The announcement was made by the Job Creators Network (JCN), a non-profit organization created by Home Depot co-founder and billionaire Bernard Marcus. They position themselves as the "voice of Main Street" claiming that government red tape is "interfering with the economic freedom that has helped make this country prosperous."

Many Republicans argue that Biden's decisions have made the US more dependent on foreign oil, which has played a role in driving up gas station prices and grocery stores.

Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of JCN, said the billboard is "part of the [seven] figure's ongoing campaign to get a response from Joe Biden about his failed policies and leadership."

“With every drop of oil we buy from the Russians, we are helping fund Putin’s war in Ukraine and his march to crush freedom and democracy in Europe,” Ortiz said in a statement.

Brent oil prices rose from $20/bbl in April 2020 to $100/bbl two years later, a five-fold increase.

He added that rising gas prices "created chaos in the US economy, and this led to the highest rates of inflation in the last 40 years." It hurt Americans and "the 30 million small business owners who have had to endure during lockdowns and mandates, labor shortages and supply chain problems."
