Since opening in 2019, Vessel has never held a dedicated holiday lights lighting ceremony—and now it will be held for the first time on Monday, November 17. This will mark the beginning of Shine Bright at Hudson Yards, an annual tradition that transforms Manhattan's west side into a sea of twinkling lights. The publication shared details. Time-out.
The celebration will take place from 18:00 PM to 18:45 PM in Public Square and Gardens, and admission is free. Radio host Helen Little of 106.7 Lite FM will host the evening. Kelsey Watts, star of the musical "Six," will perform songs from her new album, Christmas in New York, on stage. Sing Harlem, directed by Vi Higginsen, will add a warm gospel sound, and the St. Luke's brass section will perform classic Christmas tunes. Even Ellie the Elephant, the mascot of the New York Liberty basketball team, will drop by for a visit.

Designed by British architect Thomas Heatherwick, the sixteen-story Vessel features over 150 flights of stairs, 2,500 steps, and 80 observation decks. It truly is the perfect location for such a light show. Since its opening, the structure has attracted millions of visitors, delighted by both the cityscape and the sheer scale of the structure. Stephen Ross, head of developer Related Companies, once called the Vessel "a Christmas tree for all twelve months."
Around two million lights will be lit here. They will bathe the trees, terraces, and the 150-foot (almost 46 m) structure itself in a warm golden glow. It will transform into a giant Christmas ornament in the heart of Hudson Yards, amid gardens, greenery, and the entrance to the High Line. For the structure, which reopened last year after extensive safety upgrades, this ceremony will mark the beginning of a new festive season.
