"Green" home in Williamsburg, consisting entirely of 21 shipping containers, sells for $ 5 million, reports New York Post... The house is also called the “Caroll House”.
The house was built in 2016 by Brooklyn restaurateurs Joe and Kim Carroll. The couple also owns Spuyten Duyvil and Anselm, a Belgian beer bar.
The oddly shaped, four-story house is made up of pieces of containers “skillfully folded” together to create a slanted shape. The house looks like a large rectangle cut at a strange angle.
To assemble the dwelling on a corner plot measuring 7,5 by 30,5 meters, the architects placed three containers side by side and cut them at an angle. Then they cleverly stacked them together to form four tilted floors of the house.
The end result is a 1 square meter, five bedroom home. The property announcement states that the building houses "the last authorized wood-burning fireplace in New York." There is also a home office, a terrace, two driveways and a garage.
