A UFO may have been flying over the airport in New York: a plane passenger captured it on video

A plane passenger filmed something very similar to a UFO. The "Flying Top Hat" hovered over New York. The captured spectacle has baffled experts, and federal aviation officials are trying to figure out what kind of object it is, reports NYPost.

Michelle Reyes was on a commercial flight over LaGuardia Airport on March 25. She filmed a mysterious "flying cylinder" from her plane window.

“The first thing I did was send an email to the FAA [Federal Aviation Administration] to let them know what I saw,” the passenger noted. “It may have been a security risk, but unfortunately there was no response from them.” They did not confirm that they received my letter." Another person on board saw the object and was also stunned, Reyes said.

Expert Opinion

Thomas Wertman, director of the Mutual UFO Network in Ohio, reviewed the footage and said the dark object was moving at an altitude of about 700 meters and was "relatively close" to the plane as it prepared to land.

The height, shape and location of the object (near a major commercial flight path) rule out the possibility that it could be a helicopter, drone or military aircraft, Wertman said.

“Drones are not supposed to fly at that altitude, at least not legally,” he said. “If it was something related to military defense or law enforcement, you wouldn’t see it so close to the main traffic lane.”

“This could be potentially dangerous,” Wertman emphasized. He spent years studying the skies in search of interplanetary visitors.

He found the unusual round shape of the object “intriguing.” This shape disproves the theory that it was a second plane taken from an odd angle.

“It doesn’t look like a commercial airplane because I don’t see features like wings or a tail,” he explained.

The plane carrying Reyes was about a 15-minute flight from LaGuardia Airport when the video was taken, he said.

Wertman believes that the footage “does not look falsified.”

“This is a very intriguing object,” confirmed the ufologist. “It requires more research.”

There are other theories he can't rule out, such as wildlife and weather balloons.

Metadata will help him obtain information about the direction of the aircraft's flight and the exact time.

An FAA spokesman said the agency has "no reports" from pilots about the mysterious object.
