A new digital assistant has arrived in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn. It quickly finds art classes, snow day ideas, rare bakeries, and other local spots. Time-out tells more about the AI neighborhood guide.
The Dumbo Business Improvement District officially unveiled Dumbo Concierge. AI- a guide to the area for local residents, office workers and tourists.
A digital assistant for one of the city's most creative districts
Dumbo Concierge was developed by Dumbo startup Pull.City. The tool is already available online. This isn't a typical chatbot – it acts like a local resident who knows the area well and knows everyone and everything. Learn more. here.
Users can ask questions in a free-form format. For example, ask about happy hours at bars or activities for children. In response, they will receive text recommendations, as well as selections of establishments, events, and special offers directly related to the area.
Information from the local community, not from the internet
Dumbo Concierge's key differentiator is its data source. The platform doesn't collect information from across the internet. Instead, it uses data added and updated by businesses, organizations, and members of the Dumbo community.

According to the organizers, this approach helps preserve local expertise and makes small businesses more visible in the digital environment.
"This is a really cool way to make sure AI supports our sense of community, rather than replaces it," Team Dumbo president Alexandra Sika said in a statement.
She noted that the service is especially useful for those who have just started a job in the area or have recently moved there. Dumbo Concierge allows you to discover iconic places through the experience and knowledge of those who shape the life of the area.
How technology works
Pull.City combines locally curated data with advanced AI models. This allows it to provide responses tailored to a specific neighborhood rather than the entire internet network.
The platform is described as a human-centric solution. Information management remains community-driven. Data is regularly updated by local participants.
In addition, there is a separate B2B version that helps office tenants and project creators find each other.
Dumbo's development and focus on the local economy
The service's launch coincided with Dumbo's growth as a cultural and commercial hub.
Currently, there are over 225 small businesses and more than 20 cultural organizations operating in the area.
Annual events attract millions of visitors.
According to Pull.City co-founder Elizabeth Brown, the project's goal is to bring digital attention back to local economies, rather than handing it over to large tech platforms.
Dumbo Concierge is currently free. This means your next well-chosen coffee break or gallery-hopping adventure can begin with a single tap of your phone, rather than a lengthy scroll through search results.
