The Brooklyn Botanic Garden will host free jazz evenings throughout July.

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden has relaunched its Jazz in July summer concert series. It's now in its fifth year. The Jazz in July series is taking place at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden for the fifth year in a row.

Every Thursday in July, guests can spend an evening in the garden and listen to live jazz performances. Each week, different artists perform for the audience. performers.

According to the garden's senior events manager, Nadine Cabrera, the project was created to attract Visitor summer.

Every spring, the garden is visited by thousands of people who come to see the more than 200 cherry trees in bloom.

"The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is considered by many to be a premier spring destination thanks to its blooming flowers, especially the cherry blossoms," said the garden's senior events manager. "But over the past five years, we've been hosting more outdoor summer events to encourage people to come and enjoy a variety of summer activities."

New performers every week

The garden staff puts together the concert program in collaboration with local cultural organizations.

This month, project partners include Haiti Cultural Exchange and IAMcariBEING.

"We partner with many local organizations. They help us select artists for the Jazz in July evenings," Cabrera explained.

According to her, such collaboration allows the public to discover new performers and strengthen ties with the creative community.

In addition to concerts, master classes and excursions are held.

When the series launched in 2021, it featured only musical performances. Later, the program was expanded.

Now, from 18:00 PM to 19:00 PM, an hour before the concerts, additional events are held for guests.

Visitors can take part in drawing workshops, exhibition tours, and other interactive activities.

"This is a great way to introduce guests to our annual exhibitions," Cabrera said.

She added that such events help visitors get to know different parts of the garden better.

Organizers note that interest in the Jazz in July series is growing every year: “Attendance has increased significantly over the past few years and continues to grow.”

She said recommendations from visitors played a big role: "This is how people like to spend summer evenings in Brooklyn."

Special program for Disability Pride Month

In honor of Disability Pride Month, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden has prepared a special program. It will take place on July 23rd in partnership with Accessible Travel NYC.

Visitors will be able to take part in an art workshop dedicated to the topic of disability.

According to Cabrera, the event is designed for both people with and without disabilities. The program's main goal is to provide an opportunity for shared creativity and interaction.

What else is happening at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden?

On July 20, the garden will host the Forever Green Soundbath event featuring Grammy Award-winning Attacca Quartet.

The organizers call it "a meditation that reminds us of the transience of nature."

On July 30, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden will conclude its packed July program with a free street party. Guests will enjoy food, games, and a DJ set. The celebration will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Greenest Block competition.
