For six years, this unusual tradition has seen thousands of toy elephants parachute from rooftops over one of New York City's most iconic streets, Washington Street in Brooklyn.
What is the annual Dumbo Drop in New York City?
On the appointed day, thousands of toy elephants parachute from rooftops over Washington Street. It's not just a fun spectacle, which is something to watch, but also a fundraiser. Proceeds from the event support Dumbo's Title 1 public schools, PS307 Elementary and The Dock Street Middle School.
Each year, a different artist from the area designs the elephant parachute. This year, that role will be played by Zef Farmby.
When is the annual Dumbo Drop in New York City?
The annual Dumbo Drop will return for the seventh time this year on Friday, May 30. As before, this time the Dumbo Drop will be split into two launches: at 17:00 PM and 19:00 PM.

Since event Charity event, Dumbo Drop requires admission. Tickets for children 2 and older and adults start at $15 and include a souvenir elephant toy, a guaranteed viewing seat (on Washington Street between Front and Water Streets), and entry into a drawing for a chance to win top prizes from the area.

The party includes:
- free children's area with more than 20 activities for children aged 1 to 10 years;
- free trampoline.
Friday extravaganza
This year, ticket holders will be able to enjoy a specially themed photo booth and live music from The Jelly. In addition, snacks will be available from the Taste of Dumbo, Dumbo restaurants, and a beer garden will allow visitors to enjoy drinks in the fresh air.
This year, the lineup of restaurants and family-friendly activities alone makes it perhaps the best Friday night in Dumbo.
