Rooftop Movie Screenings Are Back: What Will We Watch in 2025?

Rooftop Cinema Club takes moviegoing to a whole new level – literally. These downtown skyscraper rooftop screenings offer stunning views and an impressive selection of films. Time-out tells in more detail.

• 2000s Coming of Age (whole month): Look for movies that take you back to the 2000s. Think 13 Going on 30, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and more.
• XOXO: A Gossip Girl Mini Marathon (May 6): Gossip Girl hits the big screen with a mini-marathon featuring its most dramatic, chaotic, and iconic episodes show.
• Mom chéri: Mother's Day Weekend (May 9–11): Celebrate Mother's Day with movies including Freaky Friday, Crooklyn, and Mermaids. Some screenings will even feature mimosas and cupcakes!
• Grease Sing-Along (May 14): Warm up your vocal cords for this full-scale sing-along performance of Grease on the rooftop.
• Girls' Night Out: Mamma Mia! Pajama Party (May 18): Invite your besties over for a pre-Mamma Mia bachelorette party with karaoke, glamour, goodie bags and the best excuse to wear silk pajamas on the town.
• 500th Day of Summer (May 23): In 500 Days of Summer, Tom meets Autumn, so head to the rooftop for this perfectly timed screening.
• Wicked Sing-Along (May 25): Don't worry about hitting the wrong note on your first try at this Wicked Singalong.
• Last Day of School (May 28): The screening of Dazed and Confused, held on the legendary date, promises "high spirits, cold beer, and the future... whatever, man."
• 90s Kids Club (May 31): Get nostalgic with these fun films for the whole family.

• Pride Month (whole month): This month's films will celebrate iconic LGBTQ+ stories, queer joy, and the people who make our spaces bright, bold, and beautiful in their own right.
• Cool Cool Chaos, a Community Mini Marathon (June 3): Rooftop Cinema Club will show four of Community's most mind-blowing cult series.
• Ferris Bueller's Day Off (June 5): Save Ferris and celebrate June 5th, the day that started it all.
• Ferris the 13th (June 13): Today is Friday the 13th... Got it?
• Father's Day (June 15): This is for the best dads! Some movies include Finding Nemo, Big Daddy, and Good Will Hunting. RuPaul's Drag Race Mini Marathon (June 17): Expect a truly fabulous time at this mini Drag Race marathon. It offers "drama, elegance, and legendary taste" with three episodes from the iconic Season 9.
• Juneteenth (June 19): Celebrate diversity with Brown Sugar and Love & Basketball. A portion of the proceeds from Juneteenth screenings will support the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC).
• Drag Me to the Movies (June 29): Expect a rooftop drag show a la The Birdcage, with more drama than dinner with the Keeleys and more glitter than Agador's thong drawer.

Tips for visiting Rooftop Cinema Club

The theater is perched above the streets of Midtown on the Skylawn rooftop of the Embassy Suites Hotel on West 37th Street, where the skyline serves as an incredible backdrop. But don’t worry about the noise around you: You get your own headphones that block out street noise and let you adjust the volume as needed.

As for seating, you can choose between a standard high-back chair or a premium seat with extra cushions. Reserve your ticket type and select your exact seat on-site on a first-come, first-served basis. Ticket prices range from $23 to $29 per person, depending on your seating preference and showtime.

Remember that you will be outdoors, so if you are going to a daytime show, apply sunscreen, while in the evening, take a jacket.
