On November 4, a raccoon made a hole in the ceiling and fell into the hall at the LaGuardia airport terminal. The frightened animal was hanging on wires and hiding in the check-in area. The animal was caught with a trash can, reports Guardian.
Passengers waiting for a morning flight at New York airport LaGuardia, were surprised by the sudden appearance of an unusual passenger. He literally fell from the ceiling of the terminal, or rather from a hole in it. And it was a raccoon, who then caused chaos at the gate.

Officials said an investigation was underway into how the raccoon got into the terminal. Spirit said it had hired a "professional wildlife control company" to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Airport with problems
The air terminal was regularly inspected at the turn of the century for its dilapidated passenger areas and leaky ceilings. In 2014, then-Vice President Joe Biden called LaGuardia a “Third World country” when referring to the country’s aging infrastructure.
Authorities began upgrading and renovating the airport, but Terminal A was not included in the renovation plan – it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
As unusual as the raccoon's appearance at LaGuardia may have seemed, it was far from the first. In July 2023, a raccoon jumped out of a baggage chute and "ran" through the baggage hall at Philadelphia International Airport.
