In the coming weeks, New York City will host several events celebrating Maslenitsa, the traditional Slavic holiday that bids farewell to winter and welcomes spring. The program includes folk games, round dances, ice skating, pancakes, and family activities for all ages.
Maslenitsa in Central Park
Date: February 23
Organizer: Russian Club at NYU.

The Russian Club at NYU will join Russian Youth of America in Central Park to celebrate Maslenitsa a week.
Guests can expect traditional Slavic round dances, competitions, and folk games.

- 13:00 — Maslenitsa games and round dance
Location: Wollman Ice Rink; - 14:30 – ice skating.

Family holiday "Maslenitsa Maiden Shares Pancakes"

Celebration will take place in the format of an interactive journey through five thematic stations.
Children and parents will move in groups under the guidance of teachers and parents.
The event is designed to encourage family participation and introduce Slavic traditions in a warm and festive atmosphere.
Children will take part in five stations:
- puppet show;
- outdoor games;
- creative master classes;
- aquagrim;
- pancakes and drinks.

Location: Indoor playground of St. Michael's Church. Outdoor format.
In case of bad weather, there is a backup option indoors.
Age and conditions of participation
Age group: Participants of all ages are welcome.
Minimum adult to child ratio: 1 adult to 3 children.
Children can come with the parents of another child, provided the ratio is 1:3.
