Those earning minimum wage in New York state are set to get a raise early in the new year.
On Jan. 1, 2025, the minimum wage will increase to $16,50 an hour in all five boroughs, New York, Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk counties, and to $15,50 an hour in the rest of the state, according to the state Department of Labor.

The minimum wage is currently $16 in New York, Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk counties and $15 in all other counties in the state.
On January 1, 2026, the minimum wage will increase by another 50 cents. The rates in New York City, Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk will be $17, and the rest of the state will be $16.
The state's minimum wage has risen significantly over the past decade, nearly doubling from $8 in 2014 to $15,50 in 2025.
