At 58 Joralimon Street, you can find a typical development. But between the houses there is a brick building, the shade of which is a little darker than the rest. It has large windows that are no different from the other windows on the block. Except they are blacked out.

At first glance, this is nothing special. But if you look closely, the building looks like a glitch in a video game.

It was built in 1847, long before New York was considered glamorous. Initially, it was an ordinary building. But in 1908 it was remade into a fake one. Don't even think about getting in. In fact, there are many fake buildings in New York that disguise the ventilation shafts of the subway.

In the Bronx at 415 Bruckner Boulevard townhouse is located. It was designed by the Switzer Group, an interior design company. It is not as expressive as the house on Joralimon Street. But it serves a similar purpose - to hide the electrical substation of the New York Public Utility Company.

These substations are needed by the city to step down the high voltage of electricity to a lower voltage before distributing it locally. A building like this, sticking out in the middle of the neighborhood, is not the best way to attract people to the Bronx. And the facade of the fake townhouse is the perfect camouflage. But not all fake buildings fit into the environment and are pleasing to the eye.

Manhattan residents speak unflatteringly about infrastructure Malory Square. No matter how hard the architects and designers tried, the result still turned out to be ugly.

Locals compare it to a concrete box. Windows without glass do not allow the building to merge with the rest of the area. However, it's still better than a typical subway ventilation shaft.
