The Christmas season brings joy, but it's often the most expensive time of year. Many people look for ways to cut costs. ABC7 tells how to save money when buying a Christmas tree.
Experts note that there are plenty of trees this year, and wholesale prices remain stable.
Industry forecast and wholesale prices
According to the Real Christmas Tree Board, 84% of growers expect wholesale prices to remain the same this year.
"The more trees there are on the market, the more opportunities there are to buy them at a reasonable or lower price," explained Marsha Gray of the Real Christmas Tree Board.

"Canada has been supplying you for a very long time. They have excellent trading partners. These are farmers we know and work with directly," Gray added.
Christmas tree prices in different areas of New York City

The difference depends on the category of trees: premium, standard, or damaged during transportation.
In Manhattan, at Whole Foods, spruce trees between 2,13 and 2,59 meters tall are selling for $90 plus tax.
"We're competing with all the sidewalk vendors who aren't local and don't pay rent," explained Sarah Gatanas of Urban Garden Center, where a similar Fraser fir costs $175.
