A vintage New York City subway train will begin running through Manhattan every Sunday from December 8 until January, taking passengers back in time 120 years, reports NYPost.
The New York Transit Museum has been running holiday rides for 20 years. It has only paused the program twice during the pandemic. Museum offers passengers a glimpse into the past and learn about history for just one MetroCard payment.
This year, the Holiday Nostalgia train will operate between the 2nd Avenue-Houston Street station on the F Line in Uptown and the 96th Street-2nd Avenue station on the Q Line in Midtown, making hourly trips between each direction.
This year's train consists of eight R1/9 cars. They entered service on the Eighth Avenue Line (today's A/C/E Line) and ran until 1977. The vintage cars feature rattan seats, vane ceiling fans, incandescent light bulbs, and vintage advertising.
