Autumn comes into its own: a cold snap is coming to New York

Yesterday, September 22, was the last day of astronomical summer, and, as if on cue, cold weather is coming to the city. A cold front is heading into the New York City area, causing temperatures to drop to 40 degrees Fahrenheit (about 5 degrees Celsius) over the weekend. Gothamist.
The National Weather Service warns that a cold front moving across the region will bring showers and thunderstorms, as well as strong winds. But by Friday evening, the stormy weather will leave and leave behind just cool autumn weather.
Friday and weekend temperatures in New York will range from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius. By Sunday it will rise to 20 degrees Celsius.
Boaters, surfers and beachgoers are warned by the National Weather Service about powerful waves from 6 to 11 feet high (1,8-3,3 m). They will be observed off the coastlines of Queens, Long Island and New Jersey during the day on Friday and into early Saturday morning.
