If there's anything associated with Thanksgiving besides turkey, it's Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. The annual event will return to the streets of New York this month. People.
Balloons in the shape of your favorite characters, dazzling floats galore of sequins, marching bands, musical stars and clowns all grace the route. And the culmination of the show will be Santa Claus, the final parade.
This year the parade is being held for the 96th time. Macy's held a march for the first time in history in 1924.
“The Thanksgiving Extravaganza brought joy to millions of people. Every year they get together to spend it with friends and family,” said Will Koss, executive producer of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The celebratory event will be streamed live on NBC and Peacock, so you can watch the magic from the comfort of your home.

Who's Leading the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2022
Today's Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker are back to celebrate. Roker hosted the parade for the first time in 1995, along with Willard Scott and Katie Couric. And Guthrie and Kotb led the parade for the first time in 2012 and 2018, respectively.

The parade in 2022 will be stellar! This year's all-star line-up includes performances from Gloria Estefan, Paula Abdul, Big Time Rush, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots, Fitz and the Tantrums, Mario Lopez, Ziggy Marley, Sean Paul, Kirk Franklin, Jordin Sparks and many more!
Some of Broadway's finest artists will also perform breathtaking numbers.
New balloons
Magic wouldn't be in the air if balloons didn't fly in the sky. We're not just talking about little latex balloons on a string. And about giant balloons, which are usually controlled by 80 to 100 people.
Over the years, Macy's artists have perfected their balloon game and created alternatives to helium-filled giants. These include balloon heads (inflatable heads sitting on a costumed participant), balloonicles (hybrid inflatable cars with vehicles inside). And, more recently, trycaloons (tandem tricycles with a balloon character at the wheel).
In addition to beloved balloon characters like astronaut Snoopy, Baby Boss and SpongeBob, Macy's is introducing new balloons in 2022.
New giants join the lineup this year: Blue from the BBC, Diary of A Wimpy Kid from Abrams Books, Dino and Baby Dino from Sinclair Oil and Minion Stewart from Illumination. The inflatable lineup also includes a new balloon model, Striker, the American football star from Fox Sports.
New platforms in 2022
This year, 28 platforms are represented at the parade. And each of them is a real work of art! They consist of hundreds of different decorations and structural elements. Fun fact: Over half a mile of hand-sewn fringe wraps each platform!
This year, five new platforms will make their Thanksgiving debut. There will be the fantastic Baby Shark by Pinkfong and Nickelodeon, Jeffrey's Dazzling Dance Party by Toys "R" Us, First Light People by Macy's, Supersized Slumber by Netflix and Wonder Ship by Wonder.
Of course, Santa's sleigh is also waiting for us! Did you know that Santa's sleigh is the largest float in the parade? It is 3,5 stories high and 18 meters long!

The parade can be watched live or on TV. Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade airs Thursday, November 24 at 9:00 AM on NBC and Peacock. The TV channel will also show a replay at 14:00.
