The beloved railroad excursion along the Hudson River is back! From February to November, everyone will be able to travel aboard two restored 1948 railway cars. Time-out.
They even have official names: Tavern-Lounge No. 43 and Hickory Creek.
Tickets will go on sale on this site January 20th and then February 17th. But now you can see the schedule:
All trains depart from Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station and arrive in upstate New York at Albany Rensselaer Station just over two hours after departure. The price is a bit high at $349 per person, but it includes a full meal, appetizers, beer and wine.
This year, in honor of the 75th anniversary of the first ride on Hickory Creek in 1948, 30 passengers will also get to ride from New York to Chicago on a special train that has been recreated to closely resemble the original. Price? All inclusive - $2 per participant.

If you're not ready to shell out that much, you can take a romantic trip on Valentine's Special Train. There you will find first-class service, a six-course tasting menu complete with a pair of wines for $299-$399 per passenger, depending on which train you choose.
In general, this is an expensive pleasure, even when choosing regular tickets. But there is something about seeing a state from a vintage train carriage that is sure to fill you with wonder and make the journey worth every penny.
