However, Western New York isn't the only part of the state known for its culinary creations. After all, it was here that the potato chips loved by many began to be prepared for the first time.
Saratoga Springs is a resort city in eastern New York, located at the foot of the Adirondack Mountains, 50 km north of the city of Albany. This may not be the largest city in New York, but it is certainly one of the most charming, the source said.
And, as the story goes, it was here that the world-famous snack was first made - potato chips.
It all started when George Croom - the chef at Moon Lake Lodge - first cooked this dish. It happened back in 1853.

Prior to this, the most popular dish in restaurants was french fries. However, New Yorkers often complained that the potatoes were sliced too thick, and therefore preferred other appetizers.
One day, a resort guest sent the waiter back to the kitchen, saying that the french fries prepared for him were cut into slices too thick and too wet. Then the chef, the same George Crum, decided to cut the potatoes into thinner slices and fry them well in oil. So it was invented the now popular snack, says the source.
The recipe was nicknamed "Saratoga Chips." After a while, they became the restaurant's most popular signature dish.
At the same time, many other cities on the planet can claim the title of creators of potato chips. However, residents of the city of Saratoga Springs pay tribute to the “Saratoga chips” and believe that it was in their town for the first time they came up with this appetizer.
